Mayor Daniel Lurie, Honorary Gala Chair Ayesha Curry and Paul Pelosi were just a few of the VIPs spotted at SF Ballet’s season-opening soiree on January 22. The evening commenced with an elegant dinner in San Francisco City Hall, followed by a one-night-only performance to celebrate SF Ballet’s transcendent upcoming season, curated by Artistic Director Tamara Rojo and staged at the War Memorial Opera House. The performance not only showcased the world-class talents of SF Ballet’s dancers, but also that of the acclaimed choreographers featured in SF Ballet’s 2025 Season.
Selections from this season’s repertory, including Rojo’s Raymonda and Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon, exemplified SF Ballet’s stylistic versatility and diversity. After the performance, the celebration of dance continued with an exciting after party at City Hall featuring live appearances by DJ Umami and Tainted Love. Proceeds from the annual gala directly support the creation of groundbreaking new works, the preservation of classical ballet masterpieces, scholarships for SF Ballet School students and community education programs.
