San Franciscans of the Year “Icons Gala” Honors City Leaders

On November 20, the historic Julia Morgan Ballroom played host to an evening of celebration during the first inaugural San Franciscans of the Year Icons Celebration. The event honored 12 visionary leaders who have left an indelible mark on the city, spanning fields such as business, philanthropy, technology, activism and the arts. Among the night’s honorees were San Francisco notables including Diane Wilsey, Mayor Willie L. Brown, Chef Kathy Fang and Manny Yekutiel.

Presented by the San Francisco Examiner, the elegant evening began with a cocktail reception, where attendees—including local influencers, politicians, business leaders and community advocates—mingled against the backdrop of the Ballroom’s iconic architecture. Guests enjoyed a gourmet three-course dinner, followed by the highlight of the night: the awards presentation. The San Franciscans of the Year Icons Celebration is a new initiative created to honor individuals making significant contributions to the city’s cultural, economic and social life.
