The 181 Fremont Residences’ art gallery in the sky, Gallery 181, hosted a fantastic celebration of the artwork of Bay Area native Tyler Willis on October 22. Over a hundred supporters and art collectors were on hand, including Matt Lituchy, Jay and Kathryn Paul and Maia Harris, and toasted Willis’ first gallery showing, entitled “Portraits.”
Guests enjoyed sushi and sparkling wines with views sweeping of the Bay and the city from the 69th floor half-penthouse gallery. In his remarks at the opening, the artist connected his collegiate studies in architecture and engineering to his methodology in creating his artwork. In this collection of paintings, Willis aims to capture the inherent beauty of each subject, striving to evoke emotion and connection while inviting viewers to see beyond the surface. “Portraits” will be shown for sales and viewing through February, 2025 by appointment only; contact Carmen Legarda at Carmen@181Fremont.com.
