On March 13, 50 key supporters of Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation, Northern California Chapter (ARCS NCC) met at Dandelion Chocolate Factory in the Mission for a tour and chocolate tasting in advance of ARC’s annual Supernova event, taking place at the City Club on April 29.
The Dandelion tour included a talk by company founder Todd Masonis, detailing Dandelion’s “bean to bar” approach to production, and its relationships with cacao farmers around the world. Guests at the factory enjoyed delectable chocolates, champagne and some tasty bites from McCalls Catering, as thanks for their ongoing patronage of ARCS signature event. Among the notable guests were Rita Benton Milner, Event Chair; Libby Tyree Taylor, Co-Development Chair; Deborah E. Mann, Co-President and Co-Development Chair; and the Kimball Foundation’s Gretchen Kimball.
Highlights of this year’s Supernova will include a buffet-style dinner with select wines, scholar poster sessions and moderated roundtables covering critical issues in scientific and medical research. Funds raised at the fete will support scholarships for graduate students in STEM and medicine. Each year, ARCS NCC provides over $1,000,000 in merit-based awards to students pursuing advanced degrees.
