Community Music Center Hosts Annual Spring Gala

Organization Celebrates Opening of Expanded Mission Campus

On March 8 at the Palace Hotel, music lovers and community leaders gathered at the Palace Hotel to support the Community Music Center’s (CMC) culturally vital education and performance programs. From its two San Francisco campuses–in the Mission and Richmond districts–CMC offers music classes, performance venues and rehearsal spaces for aspiring musicians of all ages and walks of life. Funds raised will support educational programming as well as tuition assistance, which CMC provides to nearly 70% of its students.

The evening’s festivities featured cocktails, a banquet, live entertainment and an afterparty in the hotel’s Garden Court. Performers included CMC students and staff, plus appearances by Diana Gameros, Thomas Edler, Patrick Wolff, Raul Vargas and San Francisco reggaeton vocalist La Doña. Befitting a party on International Women’s Day, CMC also honored three visionary women with its Gertrude Field Community Impact Award: Frances Phillips, arts funding luminary; and Martha Rodríguez-Salazar and Jennifer Peringer, longtime CMC faculty and passionate advocates for community music.
