LUMA: A new lifestyle hotel in the new heart of San Francisco

FROM THE GIANTS TO THE WARRIORS, LUMA HOTEL San Francisco is your gateway to world class entertainment in downtown Mission Bay. Experience a vibrant new lifestyle while staying in the epicenter of its buzzing scene. LUMA is just steps away from Oracle Park and only a 10-minute walk to Chase Center. With its independent spirit, this next-generation hotel brings an elevated experience and is the perfect urban city getaway.

Designed by San Francisco-based Hornberger + Worstell, LUMA features 299 contemporary guest rooms and suites, including 50 double king rooms, that thoughtfully blend technology with premium amenities. Most rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with mechanized privacy shades. The layout of each room is meticulously designed to maximize vantage points of San Francisco’s skyline and the bay.

Paying homage to the history of Mission Bay, which once housed salt ponds and wetlands, the color palette infuses cool, neutral tones with pops of teal to play upon the touchpoint where water meets land. The illuminating jewel of the property is the 16th floor Presidential Suite, featuring separate living and dining spaces and connecting bedrooms for a truly expansive feel. It offers eye-catching views into Oracle Park. The one-bedroom Presidential Suite is complete with a wet bar, powder room, and full spa bathroom, including a soaking tub, handcrafted river stone shower, and rare fossil tile from industry leader Stone Source.

Custom furnishings may be found throughout the penthouse, including curved sectional sofas from California-based Lily Jack and the bedroom headboard designed by Kevin Farry Fine Art. The suite has a second large, double king room connected through an enclosed vestibule, ideal for larger families. There are seven junior suites available with separate corner living rooms and bedrooms, all with fantastic views. All guest rooms feature Frette linens and bathrobes and ETRO bath amenities. Bathrooms have one-of-a-kind glass wall design with full visibility to the bedroom.

The hotel’s common area, COMMUNITY, serves as a gateway for both locals and visitors to feel as though they are one with the neighborhood. It has glass-enclosed walls, plentiful lounge furniture, and access to the coffee bar, TWYNE.

Upon entry as a guest, you are welcomed with exclusive, large-scale art installations commissioned by local artists. Visible inside the hotel and from the street, COMMUNITY features Helical Trace by famed visual artist Jim Campbell, which includes 4,000 wires that end in single LED light bulbs to reflect a man climbing through the flow of water. Additional large-scale artwork includes Oakland-based artist Adia Millett’s 18-foot abstract painting titled Refuge, which emulates the indigenous birds known to the neighborhood. LUMA also plays up its name, meaning “bright light,” and features several artistic light installations throughout the property as part of the city’s illumination program. Standout pieces include the exterior, giant, backlit, laser cut panels that emulate the Mission Bay salt ponds and display an array of changing colors at night in addition to a beam of light that stretches up the corner of the building along Third and Channel Streets.

A prime destination to enjoy live music and craft cocktails and to take in stunning views of the surrounding bay and San Francisco skyline, Cavaña celebrates the spirit of Central and South America through food, beverages, music, and art. The menu features an expansive collection of agave and sugarcane distillates alongside artisanal cocktails, minimal intervention wines, and shareable plates. The music offerings complement the experience with the sounds of Bossa Nova and Afrobeat on vinyl records, with a DJ spinning live in the main room. Cavaña features four gas firepits, two decorative fire elements, and 30 overhead radiant heaters for comfort on cold nights.
