Lise Davidsen Recital Honors Gordon P. Getty’s Artistic Contributions

On February 4, renowned arts champion Gordon P. Getty was presented with the Cal Performances Award of Distinction at soprano Lise Davidsen’s special recital at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley. The Award of Distinction is a University of California, Berkeley honor given to an individual whose contributions demonstrate exceptional achievement in the performing arts at Cal Performances. The award is the highest honor bestowed by Cal Performances, and past recipients include such renowned classical music stars as Yo-Yo Ma, Renée Fleming and Cecilia Bartoli.

In addition to the award presentation led by Cal Performances Executive and Artistic Director Jeremy Geffen, the event included a full evening of music from Ms. Davidsen, accompanied in recital by pianist Malcolm Martineau. The evening marked the international opera star’s long-awaited Bay Area concert debut. The Award of Distinction was given to Mr. Getty in recognition of his commitment to music as a composer, and as a dedicated supporter of celebrated performers and emerging artists alike.

Mr. Getty is the Grand Benefactor at the Cal Performances Gala on March 7, 2025 as a part of the Maria Manetti Shrem and Elizabeth Segerstrom California Orchestra Residency for the Vienna Philharmonic.
