It’s no exaggeration to claim that Costa Palmas is changing the face of Los Cabos. Just 50 minutes north of Los Cabos International Airport, but a world away from the resort-lined “corridor” between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, Costa Palmas is a destination unto itself, favored by A-list celebrities, titans of industry, professional athletes, and others seeking luxurious refuge within the popular region.
Located on Baja’s undiscovered East Cape in the shadow of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains and with stunning views of the Sea of Cortez, the stealth, 1,500-acre beachfront resort community seamlessly integrates sumptuous accommodation with organic farms, classic desert landscaping, and an international marina. Its versatile hospitality offerings are designed to take full advantage of the picturesque location. And at the community’s heart is Four Seasons Resort & Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas.
The lavish yet low-key Four Seasons Resort opened in 2019 and has been providing guests with a peek at what the entirety of the Costa Palmas community will soon become. (Future Costa Palmas developments include the Amanvari Resort and Residences, Costa Palmas Yacht Club, and Casa Blake, a posh hospitality and residential enclave.) Situated along two and a half miles of pristine, white sand beach and swimmable Sea of Cortez waters, the resort serves as ground zero for discovery of the entirety of Costa Palmas; in addition to its own stellar amenities, the Four Seasons provides to its guests a red carpet roll-out that includes access to a spectacular Robert Trent Jones II course, stylish beach club Delphine, and the vibrant, European-inspired Marina Village, currently home to Mozza Baja at Costa Palmas by James Beard Foundation Award winner, author, and restauranteur Nancy Silverton, Casena, a locally inspired cafe and boutique, and Chiki, the East Cape’s first nightclub and lounge, designed in a mélange of color and texture by the famed Martin Brudnizki. The village and these venues are easily accessed from the resort via a complimentary Italian-esque water taxi that departs throughout the day and night from the resort’s private marina.
This marina is the only within the Four Seasons brand, and it serves as a harbinger of the luxury that currently exists, and that which awaits. An exclusive port of call for superyachts in the area, the private marina will soon accommodate up to 300-foot yachts and offer 24-hour mooring assistance by professionally trained staff. The Costa Palmas Marina draws comparisons to popular global yachting destinations and the newly opened beach club Delphine contributes to the similarity. Here, under the canopy of sun-yellow umbrellas, guests can dine on culinary offerings created by Los Angeles-based Chef Ludo Lefebvre while enjoying daily entertainment, a lively bar, and sandy lounging areas.
Yet, with its own six swimming pools, fitness and sports complex, luxuriant spa, on-site mercado of exclusive retail experiences (YSL staged a recent pop-up), Kids for All Seasons program, and nine different dining venues, the Four Seasons provides little reason for guests to leave the resort property.
Restaurant options include estiatorio Milos, a chic Mediterranean beachside restaurant where international flair is paired with local ingredients. Limón offers farm-to-table, open fire, al fresco dining within a lemon grove and under a canopy of twinkle lights. Here, you’ll also find the resort’s most recent culinary attraction, Zest, the smallest restaurant in Cabo with only one chef’s table offering a private, ten-course experience held in the Limón culinary gardens. Open-air, Baja-style brasserie Casa de Brasa overlooks the resort’s largest pool, as does cevicheria and sushi bar, El Puesto. And along the 13th hole of the golf course, you’ll find the “diamond in the rough” Lucha Libra, an unassuming taco stand serving some of the best grilled shrimp and adobada pork tacos you’ll find in this taco abundant region. An extensive selection of tequilas and mezcals help quench the thirst of parched golfers.
One of Costa Palmas’ most desired destinations is the Four Seasons award-winning Oasis Spa. It is exactly that—an oasis inspired by the healing energy of the desert, mountains and sea. A place to spend an hour or the entire day, it boasts complementary wet areas, saunas, steam rooms, and hydrotherapy whirlpools, and offers everything from private couple experiences to yoga classes and sound baths, an array of skincare treatments and facials utilizing natural ingredients found in Baja, custom massages including pregnancy-safe offerings, clay body wraps, hair and nail salon services, and more.
With the Amanvari Resort and Casa Blake on the horizon, Costa Palmas continues to evolve beyond what is already the ultimate Cabo destination. Its allure lies not only in its natural beauty, but also in exceptional service. While welcoming hospitality is nearly a given in the Cabo region, the Costa Palmas hospitality experience—unrivaled in its warmth and generosity—recognizes and heeds the desires of those who require and demand “the best.”
