The annual San Francisco Consular Corps 4th of July party, hosted by Chief of Protocol Maryam Mudurglu and sponsored by Kevin Xu, was held this year at the beautiful Maritime Museum in Fisherman’s Wharf.
Mayor London Breed was there to speak about the importance of the consular corps to San Francisco, highlighting the diverse communities they represent and their impact on the city. The event, set against the backdrop of San Francisco Bay, culminated in an evening fireworks display. Event designer Riccardo Benavides provided the decor, and McCalls catered the evening with delicious traditional American dishes like cobbler and fried chicken. Special guest DJ Hey Love provided the music.
San Francisco is privileged to host 70 foreign consulates, which carry out the same official functions as embassies. They also conduct commercial programs to develop business partnerships, work with the media, and encourage academic, scientific and artistic exchanges. Each year the city thanks its consular corps with an Independence Day celebration, honoring their work in helping nurture vital international relationships.
