The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, at University of California, Davis, celebrated the artists and arts champions who contribute to the UC Davis arts legacy at its annual gala on Oct. 21, 2023, in Davis, Calif. Artist and alumna Deborah Butterfield and civic and arts leader and founding board member Clint Reilly received the Margrit Mondavi Arts Medallion honoring their contributions to championing creativity and leadership in the arts.
The approximately 150 guests from the worlds of art, philanthropy and academia included U.S. Representative and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Paul Pelosi; museum founding donor Maria Manetti Shrem; UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May and LeShelle May; and arts philanthropists Matt Bult and the Bult Family; Shelby and Frederick Gans; Nancy S. Mueller and Sharon Twigg-Smith. Attendees viewed three fall exhibitions, heard a musical performance by soprano Mikayla Sager, and enjoyed a sumptuous dinner by McCalls Catering. The fundraising event raised $400,000 to support the museum’s exhibitions and programs, which are free for all.
