On September 15, media and invited guests were welcomed to Chase Center for an exclusive first look at the Laver Cup’s iconic black court and immersive Fan Zone, ahead of the tournament’s highly anticipated San Francisco debut. The Laver Cup features a striking silver trophy and showcases a unique team format that pits the best players from Europe against top talent from the rest of the world. With Team Europe leading the all-time series 5–2, the Laver Cup returns for its eighth edition, marking the first time this unique team-format event, featuring the world’s top male players, will be held in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The preview featured remarks from Steve Zacks, Laver Cup CEO; Pat Rafter, Team World Vice Captain; and Brandon Schneider, President & COO of the Golden State Warriors.
Schneider reflected on the arena’s transformation into a tennis venue for the very first time. “It’s so special to have some of the best players in the world competing on the same floor that typically hosts the NBA and WNBA,” he said, emphasizing the Chase Center’s unique ability to bring world-class events to San Francisco.

Zacks outlined the free Fan Zone experience, open daily from September 18-21, 2025 (Thursday through Sunday), starting at 10 AM, designed to make the excitement of Laver Cup accessible to all. Highlights include:
- A live taping of Andy Roddick’s Served podcast with marquee guests such as Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, and Yannick Noah.
- A “Speed of Serve & Accuracy Challenge,” open to the public, with prizes for participants.
- Sponsor activations, exclusive merchandise, food and drink offerings, and a massive outdoor screen streaming matches live.
He also announced that Thursday’s Practice Day (12–2 PM) will allow fans to watch all players on court for just $20+fees, with more than 2,000 local schoolchildren invited as part of the tournament’s community outreach.

From the competitive side, Rafter spoke candidly about the challenge ahead. Team Europe arrives with a formidable lineup led by Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Casper Ruud, while Team World features Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, and other rising stars. This year also ushers in a new era of leadership with Andre Agassi captaining Team World and Yannick Noah helming Team Europe.

Founded by Roger Federer to honor tennis legend Rod Laver, the Laver Cup has grown into one of the sport’s most innovative competitions, an annual battle between Team Europe and Team World that alternates between European and U.S. venues. Now in its eighth year, the event makes its San Francisco debut with a sold-out arena, an exhilarating atmosphere, and a Fan Zone designed to welcome the city at large into the celebration of professional tennis.
