Italy has long been a dream destination for many, and my recent trip to two of its most exquisite locales—the Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel and Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome—was nothing short of a fairy tale.
Traveling with my family, we embarked on an unforgettable journey that combined the breathtaking beauty of the Amalfi Coast with the elegance of Rome, creating a memorable tapestry of experiences that I look forward to reliving in the years to come.

Our adventure began on the stunning Amalfi Coast, where we checked into the Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel. Nestled dramatically on a cliffside and originally built as a Cistercian abbey, this transformed, 13th century gem exudes both charm and luxury.
The moment we arrived, took the elevator up the cliff, and stepped onto the terrace, the breathtaking views of the bluest of blue waters and fragrant lemon groves had us ready to relax from the 13-hour journey.
Every detail of the hotel was thoughtfully curated to enhance our experience. Our suite, adorned with soft neutral tones and contemporary furnishings, opened to a stunning view of the sea. The blend of ancient architecture and modern comfort created the perfect sanctuary to unwind. We spent our days basking by the infinity pool, which seemed to cascade into the ocean below, and indulging in exquisite Italian cuisine at Dei Cappuccini, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant.
Knowing that this place was home to Capuchin monks from the late 1500s until 1826, when it was converted into a hotel, walking through parts of the building, including the church and cloister, still retain their original features from that period. The hotel now offers tours led by “Friar Marcus,” who shares insights into the history of the monastery and the Capuchin order.

Anantara Convento di Amalfi offered us a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves in the region’s rich culture. We participated in a limoncello-making class that delighted our taste buds while also connecting us with local traditions.
Culinary lessons with the talented chefs allowed us to create our own Italian masterpieces, and dining on our creations, accompanied by local wines, forged bonds that will last a lifetime.
The Anantara Spa, set within the monastery’s ancient stone walls, was a true sanctuary. I indulged in a cliffside massage that soothed my senses, while the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks provided a perfect backdrop. Each treatment blended Eastern and Mediterranean rituals, leaving all of us rejuvenated and ready to explore more of the stunning Amalfi Coast.
After a blissful three days in Amalfi, we set off for Rome, where the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel awaited us. Housed in a stunning, 19th century marble palace on Piazza della Repubblica, the hotel is a master class in blending classical grandeur with modern sophistication.
As we stepped into the magnificent marble lobby, the grandeur of the neoclassical architecture took our breath away. This hotel is not just a place to stay; it’s a landmark that whispers stories of ancient Rome. If you walk downstairs to the first floors, glass floors give you insight into the ancient Roman ruins upon which the palace was originally built.

Our suite, which had the most spectacular views of the Piazza Della Repubblica, was a sanctuary of comfort and elegance, adorned with luxurious furnishings and featuring views of the ancient Baths of Diocletian.
The historical significance of the building, with roots dating back to Pope Clement XI, fascinated us. We felt enveloped by the city’s rich history, and the glass floors revealing the preserved mosaics below only heightened our sense of wonder.
Having walked all throughout Rome and visited the new Valentino exhibit near the Spanish Steps and Dolce & Gabana’s Dal Cuore Alle Mani show, we were more than happy to settle back at the hotel and lounge poolside. The infinity pool had a panoramic view of the Eternal City.
Dining at Anantara Palazzo Naiadi was an experience in itself. We indulged in a culinary journey at INEO, the hotel’s signature restaurant, where each dish was a celebration of refined flavors.

The highlight was our evening at SEEN by Olivier, perched on the rooftop, where we savored fresh sushi and creative cocktails against a backdrop of sweeping Roman views. The setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, creating a magical atmosphere that made our meal even more memorable.
As our trip came to an end, I reflected on the moments that made this journey extraordinary. The blend of family, luxury, and the breathtaking beauty of both properties created memories that we will cherish forever.
The luxurious accommodations, exceptional dining experiences, and the rich history surrounding us made our journey not just a vacation but a profound connection to Italy.
In both Amalfi and Rome, the Anantara Hotels provided us with a gateway to experience the essence of Italy: the art, the flavors, the landscapes, and the heartfelt hospitality for which the country is known.
As we departed, I felt a sense of gratitude for these moments and a promise to return. Italy, with its enchanting allure, will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I eagerly anticipate the day I can once again bask in the luxury offered by Anantara. www.anantara.com
