Sutter Health Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Neuroscience Complex

A ceremonial shovel-turning on June 4 marked the beginning of construction for Sutter Health’s groundbreaking Advanced Neuroscience Complex, at its CPMC Mission Bernal Campus in San Francisco. The gathering brought together civic leaders including Mayor Daniel Lurie; Sutter Health President and CEO Warner Thomas; Sutter Health Board Chair Ken McNeely; and renowned philanthropists
David and Dagmar Dolby, to celebrate the $442 million facility that promises to elevate neurological care citywide.

The 129,000-square-foot complex represents more than just a building expansion – it embodies Sutter Health’s transformational investment in San Francisco’s medical future. When completed in 2028, the facility will support expanded staff and 80 physicians, while also housing prestigious programs like the Ray Dolby Brain Health Center and Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research and Treatment Center. The groundbreaking ceremony concluded with speakers highlighting how this state-of-the-art facility will provide comprehensive care for stroke, Parkinson’s, epilepsy and other neurological conditions, reinforcing Sutter’s commitment to the city it has served since the 1850s.
