Neiman Marcus The Art of Fashion Runway Show Benefitting the San Francisco Opera Guild

On a chilly May day when philanthropy and fashion converged, San Francisco’s most stylish set arrived at Neiman Marcus. As I ascended the escalators, Neiman Marcus’ own personal style maven Vicki Winston warmly greeted me. Her years of consulting the fashion set with an incredibly trained eye for the latest trends have made her synonymous with San Francisco style.

I knew very well that Neiman Marcus would hold nothing back, so this was a luncheon not to be missed. Upon arriving at the luncheon on the third floor, guests were welcomed with sparkling wine from Scharffenberger and a breathtaking abundance of the most beautiful and over-the-top floral arrangements designed by the creative genius of renowned event and lifestyle designer Riccardo Benevides.

As the visionary behind the event’s stunning design, Benevides is celebrated for his ability to blend fashion with nature. His floral arrangements, featuring a dazzling array of roses in shades of crimson, blush, and gold, created a sumptuous backdrop that complemented the elegance of the afternoon.

Each arrangement evoked the beauty of an opulent garden, inviting guests to immerse themselves in a world where fashion flourished amid nature’s finest creations. Benevides’ artistry was not merely an aesthetic choice; it was a heartfelt homage to the opera, an art form that thrives on beauty and emotional expression.

The guest list included fashion luminaries, philanthropists, and opera enthusiasts alike. Welcomed by Neiman Marcus’ Anna Chung, co-chairs Robert H. Beadle, Katie Colendich, and Kathy Huber; Farah Makras; Mary Poland; Lisa Goldman; Jorge Maumer; Stefanie Roumeliotes; Karen Caldwell; Pam Preston; Jane Mudge; honorary chair Dr. Carolyn Chang; and Haute Living’s own Olivia Decker—to name a few—mingled among their fashion contemporaries.

As the event began, Chloe King, the director of fashion and lifestyle at Neiman Marcus & Saks Fifth Avenue, welcomed guests with a smile and a fashion flair by describing the season’s upcoming trends and designers. Known for her impeccable taste and keen eye for detail, King’s fashion commentary set the tone for the show which ensued with a choreographed fashion presentation highlighting the season’s best looks for men and women.

Showcasing the works of the world’s leading designers, including Etro, Libertine, Monique Lhuillier, Tom Ford, and more, each look was carefully selected to embody the day’s theme, “The Art of Fashion.” As guests took notes as to what to order for the season, Neiman Marcus presented a wonderful fashion show. Each designer profiled highlighted the beauty of contemporary fashion.

The vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and elegant silhouettes on display created a visual feast showcasing the synergy between fashion and art. Throughout the afternoon, King took the time to engage with guests; her warmth and enthusiasm for fashion were infectious. Looking radiant in a modern floral Prada structured dress, she was the epitome of effortless style.

The events co-chairs, Robert H. Beadle, Katie Colendich, and Kathy Huber, were welcoming in their remarks and emphasized the importance of supporting the opera and its educational programs as an institution that enriches our cultural landscape. Their dedication to the cause resonated with attendees, inspiring them to contribute to the day’s charitable efforts through a live auction that exceeded expectations.

A highlight of the luncheon was a live performance featuring the Opera Scouts. Following the performance, the students expressed their gratitude for the community’s support and the lasting benefits of its programs and experiences. With proceeds dedicated to supporting the opera’s educational programs, guests all rallied as participants in donating to the cause.
