Raphael House’s Black & White Gala Brings Springtime to the Palace Hotel

This year the Raphael House’s Black & White Gala was a vibrant night of cherry blossoms, champagne and the special kind of vibe that comes with doing the right thing. On May 10 guests arrived at San Francisco’s Palace Hotel for a night of celebration and community, and in support of Bay Area residents in need of a helping hand. Founded in 1971 as San Francisco’s first family shelter, Raphael House offers a home-like, supportive environment and provides comprehensive services including housing support, career development and children’s programming.

Guests were treated to an elegant sit-down dinner, while enjoying an evening program that featured a live auction hosted by Liam Mayclem and a Fund-a-Future paddle raise. No gala is complete without an afterparty, and guests danced into the night to music from DJ Cams. This year’s Black & White Gala–a fixture of the SF social season–raised over $880,000 to support families navigating homelessness in the Bay Area. Raphael House is proud to note that thanks to the generosity of some very special sponsors, every dollar that was raised that night will go directly to the families that the organization serves.
