Root Division’s Benefit Flourish Celebrates the Arts at Glam Soiree

On May 2 at Four One Nine studio in San Francisco, arts nonprofit Root Division celebrated the season in style with their benefit gala, Flourish: A Spring Soiree. Root Division’s mission is to empower artists, foster community service and enrich the Bay Area through engagement in the visual arts. The organization is a launching pad for artists, a stepping-stone for educators and students, and a bridge between the arts and the general public.

The evening honored Arts Champion, JD Beltran and Root Division alumni studio artists Alexander HernandezKija Lucas, and Nimah Gobir.

Cocktails crafted by Public Works were offered alongside an array of delectable bites from Azalina’s, a Michelin Guide-listed Malaysian restaurant in San Francisco. Crispy shrimp with seaweed aioli, purple sticky rice with roast coconut and organic chicken dumplings with black vinegar were just a few of the scrumptious treats provided. Proceeds from the Flourish benefit will help the organization provide subsidized studio space to artists in exchange for community service, such as teaching art to youth in schools that would not be able to offer art instruction otherwise.
