A Colorful Night at the Exploratorium’s Annual Ball

On May 2, San Francisco’s Exploratorium welcomed 300 guests to its second annual Phenomena(l) Ball, a gala that celebrates exploring the world through science and art, and supports the Exloratorium’s educational mission. This year’s theme was color perception, inspired by the book “Full Spectrum” by author and event speaker Adam Rogers. Guests at the ball came dressed head-to-toe in vibrant hues, creating a rainbow tapestry across the ballroom. Even the cocktails were colorful, as partygoers kicked off the night by enjoying a round of vibrant yellow negronis as they watched the sun set over the Bay.

In addition to a sumptuous dinner provided by McCalls Catering, guests played at the science exhibits scattered around the event space, and participated in a lively [auction] paddle raise that unfolded during the meal. The evening continued at the gala after-party–winkingly called The Science of Cocktails–when three hundred more revelers joined the event to carry it into the wee hours. The Phenomena(l) Ball, previously titled Party at the Piers, is the Exploratorium’s annual gala, which brings together friends and supporters to raise funds for vital programs.
