To celebrate its 22nd anniversary, the San Francisco Greek Film Festival (SFGFF) held its opening night soiree on March 15 at the Delancey Street Screening Room, showing the feature film Greek Mothers Never Die and the short film The Cardinal. Greek film buffs gathered at the picturesque Embarcadero spot overlooking the Bay, and were welcomed by SFGFF Executive Director Kleon Skourtis and Festival Director Maria Nicolacakis.
Director, writer, and producer Rachel Suissa introduced her film Greek Mothers Never Die, alongside co-producer Eleonore Dailly. Other special guests in attendance included actor Apollon Bollas and Vas Kiniris of the San Francisco-Thessaloniki Sister City Association. After the screening the audience adjourned to a nearby Delancey Street hall for the opening night reception, where Greeks and grecophiles alike mingled and celebrated the night’s movies. In its 22-year history, the San Francisco Greek Film Festival has showcased some of the most highly regarded Greek and Cypriot films ever produced. The 2025 Festival continues with daily screenings through Saturday, March 22, all held at Delancey Street.
The entire lineup of films will be available online, in addition to 13 documentaries which are only available online, through April 5. For details please go to www.grfilm.com.
