SHE-CAN Raises $200,000 at Revolution 2.0 Gala in San Francisco

Women-centered nonprofit SHE-CAN (Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation) raised over $200,000 on September 27 at Terra Gallery in San Francisco, where supporters gathered for Revolution 2.0: Resilient & Rising, to celebrate young women from post-conflict countries pursuing higher education in the United States. CEO Annelise Bauer welcomed guests for an evening honoring former US Congress Member Jackie Speier and University of Ghana medical student Jocelyn Mizero, whose dedication to global women’s leadership embodies the resilience demonstrated by SHE-CAN scholars who overcome extraordinary obstacles to earn full-ride college scholarships.

The vibrant celebration featured deeply moving testimonials from scholars who described how education is helping them transform their communities. McCalls Catering & Events created a global cuisine menu including Liberian curry-spiced lentil cakes, Guatemalan ceviche pescado on tostadas, Cambodian sweet and sour dumplings and chicken tinga empanadas. Duniya Dance and Drum Company delivered a high-energy performance, and Mark Johns’s Slide and Spin projection mapping transformed the space with stunning visual artistry. SHE-CAN supporter Jan Yanehiro joined donors and attendees for an evening that concluded with DJ Carol—SHE-CAN’s CFO—getting guests up and dancing. This annual event once again united the Bay Area’s international development advocates while investing in our shared global future.
