The Order of Malta Clinic achieved an impressive fundraising milestone on September 23, as over 300 supporters gathered at St. Francis Yacht Club for the seventeenth annual Champions Gala, setting a new record for support of the organization’s mission to provide free medical care to San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents. The evening program also honored Albert and Sandy Seeno Jr., alongside Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, with the Silver Chalice Award, recognizing their dedication to advancing healthcare access for those who must choose between basic medical care and covering food and housing costs.
The waterfront celebration overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge featured speakers including Bishop Michael C. Barber, Albert Seeno, Jr. and Archbishop Cordileone, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers, staff and donors whose commitment has enabled remarkable progress since the clinic’s 2008 opening. The St. Francis Yacht Club provided an elegant menu including short ribs, salmon and vegetarian pasta, as guests celebrated an organization that has delivered high-quality medical care to nearly 60,000 patient visits at zero cost. The record-breaking fundraising success ensures continued support for the clinic’s mission of “upholding human dignity and caring for people in need,” demonstrating how community generosity creates lasting impact for patients who would otherwise go without essential medical services.
