Noelle Nashville: A Whimsical Boutique Retreat

As I stepped into the vibrant realm of Nashville for the first time, I knew I was in for a treat. Nestled in the heart of downtown, the Noelle Nashville stood like a beacon of creativity and history, beckoning me to explore a city I had heard so much about.

With the spirit of this artistic city swirling in the air, I found myself at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Church Street, just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Broadway and the soulful Ryman Auditorium. Here, the past and future didn’t just meet; they bonded together like holding hands.

Originally opened in 1930 as Noel Place, Noelle is a historical gem that has been lovingly restored to honor its roots while embracing the vibrancy of modern design.

The hotel’s transformation is a testament to the local visionaries Nick Dryden and Benji Peck who, alongside over 50 artisans, have infused the space with a delightful blend of art deco charm and contemporary flair.

As I wandered through the hotel, I was struck by how every corner seemed to tell a story, a captivating narrative that celebrated the artistic renaissance.

My adventure began at Lona by Richard Sandoval, the hotel’s signature restaurant where the air was filled with the enticing aroma of modern Mexican cuisine. The bold and stylish ambiance perfectly reflected the culinary journey that was about to unfold.

From zesty tacos to decadent enchiladas, each dish was a celebration of flavor, a fiesta for the senses—not what I was expecting in Nashville, but nevertheless, a great way to start my journey, especially since their margaritas were top notch and set the stage for the evening.

After indulging in a culinary escapade, I ascended to Rare Bird, the panoramic rooftop bar offering breathtaking views of downtown Nashville. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the city was bathed in hues of orange and pink, and I found myself sipping on seasonal cocktails while enjoying the lively atmosphere with great music.

After cruising Broadway and getting my fill of some of the best live music I have heard in a while, I retreated back to the Noelle for an even more delightful surprise. Hidden behind a seemingly ordinary storage closet door was the hotel’s reimagined speakeasy, Hidden Bar.

This clandestine gem was alive with energy, featuring rotating pop-ups, DJ nights, and creative mixology that transported me back to the Prohibition era. I couldn’t resist the allure of a handcrafted cocktail (or two) that was as intriguing as the space itself. In this whimsical hideaway, I felt like I had stumbled upon a secret world where the spirit of adventure thrived.

One of Noelle’s standout features is its Keep Shop, a luxury boutique that showcases Nashville’s top designers and artisans. As I browsed through curated collections, I purchased seven unique items that I was excited to wear right away, including the perfect cowboy hat and a pair of great boots!

The art program, curated by local artist Bryce McCloud, showcased original works that celebrated the unsung “Nashvillians of Note,” inviting me to experience the rich tapestry of the local culture.

As the second night unfolded, I ventured into La Puerta, a Tulum-inspired escape that captivated me with its coastal jungle energy and candlelit mysticism. The sultry mezcal cocktails were a revelation, each sip transporting me to a paradise of flavors.

The ambiance transformed into an immersive experience, with “Jungle After Dark” DJ nights that blended the rhythm of Latin beats with the allure of artisan agave spirits.

Participating in the mezcal spirit tasting was a highlight of my stay. Weekly tastings with local mezcaleros offered a delightful exploration of flavors, and the beautifully crafted tasting board became a cherished keepsake.

The evenings were filled with low-key moon rituals, where ambient soundscapes and tarot readings added an ethereal touch to my experience. I was captivated by the bartender’s ritual of “smudging” as they served the palo santo-inspired cocktail, a magical cocktail moment that reminded me of a bar in Holbox on the Riviera Maya.

In the end, my stay at Noelle Nashville was nothing short of whimsical—a delightful blend of history, creativity, and culinary adventures. This boutique hotel is more than just a place to rest; it’s a vibrant gathering spot that captures the essence of the city. With every experience, I felt the spirit of Nashville envelop me, leaving me eager to return and continue the dance of discovery in this enchanting city.
