The California College of the Arts (CCA) opened its doors on May 21 to honor a longtime ally and raise important funds for arts education. This year’s CCA Gala celebrated the Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr., in recognition of his enduring civic leadership and his lasting impact on the San Francisco Bay Area. The event grossed nearly $1.1 million for CCA student scholarships.
The colorful soiree welcomed supporters, alumni and faculty to an evening of community and purpose. After a buzzy cocktail hour complete with live music from Bay Area Jazz & Soul, the lucky guests were seated for a curated dinner designed around some of Mayor Brown’s favorite dishes–think caviar, short ribs and ice cream sundaes. Since 1907, CCA has worked to educate students to shape culture and society through art, architecture, design and writing. This year’s benefit gala will help ensure that CCA can continue to enrich the Bay Area’s cultural life.
