Vinarosa Resort & Spa Debuts in Sonoma County Following $15 Million Reimagining

Sonoma County has a new landmark of quiet luxury. Just 60 miles north of San Francisco, Vinarosa Resort & Spa is positioning itself as a new standard bearer for the Russian River Valley. Following a $15 million transformation and rebranding, the resort’s intentional evolution from its predecessor—Vintners Resort—blends timeless design with the slow pleasures of wine country living. The 92-acre estate merges vineyard ambiance with European elegance, design-forward hospitality, and an ethos of sustainability.

The new resort, developed and owned by Ensemble Hospitality, draws inspiration from the cultivated charm of a Provençal retreat while honoring the property’s roots in Sonoma’s wine country. The result is a sensorial experience of layered interiors, immersive culinary programs, and a strong connection to place.

“We have unveiled Vinarosa with a very specific vision of wine country elegance that will allow our guests to instantly unwind and savor the tastefully redesigned interiors and newly landscaped exteriors which seamlessly integrate with the breathtaking picturesque vineyard setting,” said General Manager Michael Collins. “Our guests will embark on personalized and curated Wine Country experiences and then return to luxury accommodations and chef inspired culinary delights.”

At the heart of the redesign is a philosophy of immersion. ARCSINE, the Oakland-based design studio behind the interiors, took inspiration from the surrounding landscape, layering natural textures and heirloom accents into each space.

“Inspired by the charm of a Provençal retreat, the redesign aims to honor the site’s rich history while telling a multigenerational story of discovery and cultivation,” said Elizabeth Dillon, Director of Interiors at ARCSINE. “Each space is layered with a curated mix of eclectic relics and heirloom artwork, inviting a sense of discovery at every turn. The palette draws from nature’s richest hues—plum, olive, honey, lavender, and grape—balanced by the warmth of oak and walnut woods. Thoughtfully layered textures and a harmonious blend of textiles create a tactile, immersive experience that brings the past to the present.”

That vision comes to life most vividly in the new lobby, where a living tree rises through a handcrafted stone mosaic beneath a central skylight. A hidden billiards room concealed behind a bookshelf, and a reimagined courtyard filled with white roses, fire pits, and secluded nooks, add layers of intimacy and retreat.

The guest rooms echo the vineyard’s natural rhythm with custom wood detailing, gas fireplaces, and bespoke bar carts stocked with local spirits. Bathrooms feature a textural palette of tambour wood vanities, freestanding tubs, and stone slab wainscoting. Even the carpet evokes sense-of-place, with patterns inspired by aerial views of the surrounding vines.

The culinary program, long anchored by John Ash, also enters a new chapter under Executive Chef Sergio Howland, who’s reimagined the menus to center the estate’s working vineyard and on-site gardens. Guests can expect seasonal dishes drawn from the resort’s fig and olive orchards, paired with immersive experiences like vineyard picnics, curated wine tastings, and garden tours. Morning yoga amid the vines and guided walks along landscaped paths further connect the guest experience to the land.

Additional enhancements include a resort pool with cabanas, hot tub, and a full-service pool bar; a state-of-the-art fitness center; refreshed meeting and event spaces; and the newly expanded Spa at Vinarosa, formerly Vi La Vita Spa, now designed with nature and wellness in mind.

For those who held Vintners Resort close, rest assured: the spirit remains. Vinarosa retains the warmth, intimacy, and vineyard charm that made its predecessor a favorite among wine country travelers—only now elevated with fresh perspective, thoughtful design, and a renewed sense of place.
