In a region where food and wine have long gone hand in hand, few names carry the quiet prestige of Trefethen Family Vineyards. A cornerstone of Napa Valley since 1968, the estate has built its legacy on estate-grown wines, generational stewardship, and a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability. This summer, the Oak Knoll District property deepens its connection to the land with two immersive culinary offerings: Garden and Glass and the refined Taste the Estate experience.
Both programs are designed to highlight the vibrancy of Trefethen’s expansive culinary gardens and the elegance of its limited-production wines—all within the warm, welcoming framework that has long defined this family-run estate.
Garden and Glass: A Sunset Supper from Soil to Table
Launching July 1, Garden and Glass offers guests a rare behind-the-scenes look at the estate’s farm-to-table philosophy. The evening begins with a glass of wine and a nod to history: a story of the Napa Valley Cooking Class once hosted by matriarch Janet Trefethen, and where icons such as Thomas Keller and Wolfgang Puck once taught, long before they were household names.
From there, guests head to the culinary garden for a hands-on harvest, selecting fresh herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers alongside the estate’s culinary team. As the sun dips behind the Mayacamas, the group gathers on the deck of the Trefethen Villa for an intimate, four-course dinner prepared by Winery Chef Chris Kennedy. Each course is seasonally inspired and paired with a thoughtfully selected library wine—many of which are not available to the public.

This golden-hour experience is offered by appointment for groups of 8 to 12 and is priced at $450 per person. Reservations can be made by contacting the winery at 707.255.7700 or via email at visit@trefethen.com.
Taste the Estate: A Daily Celebration of Season and Place
For a more traditional—yet no less elevated—offering, Taste the Estate is Trefethen’s signature culinary experience, held daily at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Guests begin with a guided stroll through the estate gardens, overflowing in summer and early fall with heirloom produce and orchard fruits, before entering The Villa, the winery’s historic family home, for a multi-course tasting.
Each dish is introduced by Chef Kennedy and paired with a rare selection from the Trefethen wine library, offering a true taste of the estate’s terroir. Emphasis is placed on sustainability, estate-grown ingredients, and seasonal storytelling through food and wine. The experience is $125 per guest and can be reserved at www.trefethen.com.
Why Trefethen Endures
As one of Napa’s original family-run wineries, Trefethen remains a rarity: a legacy estate still helmed by its founding family, now led by third-generation vintners Hailey and Lorenzo Trefethen. The estate’s 100% estate-grown wines—crafted with restraint, balance, and a deep respect for the land—have earned international acclaim while staying true to their roots.
Set on 400 acres in the heart of the Oak Knoll District, Trefethen is both a slice of Napa history and a living laboratory for forward-thinking hospitality. With these new culinary experiences, it invites guests not just to taste its wines, but to feel the land, the season, and the story behind every glass.
