Meals on Wheels Celebrates Cuisine and Community at Star Chefs & Vintners Gala

The 37th-annual Meals on Wheels San Francisco Star Chefs & Vintners Gala lured a buzzy crowd of top-tier chefs and VIP guests to the Fort Mason Center for a night of food and friendship. On May 18 over 650 guests gathered at the airy space to take in the floor-to-ceiling Bay views, and sample the wares of more than 70 of Northern California’s most celebrated chefs and wines from more than 60 vintners. One of the SF social season’s most exciting food and wine events, this year’s gala was led by Stuart Brioza, the James Beard Award-winning talent behind State Bird Provisions, The Progress and The Anchovy Bar.

The eager diners–including Warriors player Jonathan Kuminga, eBay CEO Jamie Iannone and Rakuten USA CEO Amit Patel–feasted on delicacies like English Pea Agnolotti with Point Reyes Toma, Cocoa Beef Short Rib & Chickpea ‘Rendang,’ not to mention the lavish dessert reception following the sit-down dinner. “It was an unforgettable evening of generosity, heart and community,” said Jennifer Steele, Meals on Wheels San Francisco CEO. “This event is so much more than a fundraiser, it’s a declaration of care for our older neighbors, and a commitment to ensuring they are never left behind.” The $6 million raised by the event will provide more than 750,000 meals, as well as critical social work and nutrition services that help seniors age with dignity in their own homes.
