Children of Shelters Hosts Spring Luncheon at St. Francis Yacht Club

Children of Shelters, an organization working to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness in San Francisco youth, held its 9th Annual Spring Luncheon benefit at San Francisco’s St. Francis Yacht Club on May 14 sponsored by Hudson Grace & Theoni. The sold-out event boasted a VIP guest list that included Mayor Daniel Lurie and Supervisor Bilal Mahmood of San Francisco’s District 5. Hosted by Board members Whit Milburn and Sayre Ziskin, who testified to the importance of the organization’s work, event guests witnessed a powerful conversation about family homelessness in San Francisco, and how the community can work together to ensure every child has the resources they need to thrive.

In his remarks, Mayor Lurie noted the life-saving potential of Children of Shelters’ critical programs and services. “Every child deserves a safe place to call home,” he said. “A place where they can do homework, a place where they can play, and where they can just simply be kids.” Children of Shelters spearheads educational, experiential and nutritional initiatives, helping children utilizing shelters experience joy, receive critical services and chart a path to a brighter future.
