California College of the Arts Launches New Women-Centered Exhibition

California College of the Arts (CCA) has opened an exciting new group exhibition, with a buzzy reception at the CCA campus on April 2. The show, titled Reunited, unites Bay Area artists from the National Museum of Women in the Arts’ Women to Watch program. The vibrant show features works from acclaimed local artists including Sofía Córdova, Julia Goodman and Lava Thomas. Twelve women in total are represented in the show, and the selected works display the resilience and collective support of their artistic community.

The works in the show engage with themes of identity, empowerment and history, and include paintings, drawings, metalwork and video, among other media. Included in the collection is CCA alumna Lava Thomas’ Portrait of Maya Angelou, one of the drawings that informed the Maya Angelou monument at the San Francisco Main Library in Civic Center. The Reunited exhibit is on view at the CCA Campus Gallery through May 17.
