Ulysse Nardin Brings High-Tech Horology to New Menlo Park Boutique

Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin rolled out the blue carpet in Silicon Valley on March 18, to celebrate the opening of its U.S. flagship boutique at The Villa Menlo Park, launched in partnership with local retail partner Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry. The new boutique–the Swiss watchmaker’s only stand-alone store in North America–establishes a West Coast presence for the cult-favorite Swiss watchmaker. Among other innovations, Ulysse Nardin is bringing silicon to Silicon Valley in the form of their silicon-infused movements.

The epitome of the company’s strategy of combining high-tech with traditional craftsmanship came in 2001, when the watch called Freak was launched as the most complicated time-only watch ever created, with its entire movement rotating to tell the time. This was just one of the amazing objets guests at the ribbon cutting were first to see, along with the boutique’s site-specific, custom design by Bertrand Fairerol. “Silicon Valley collectors have a deep appreciation for independent watchmakers like Ulysse Nardin,” said Jared Silver, President of Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry. “We are proud to expand our partnership with Ulysse Nardin and to welcome the boutique.”
